On December 7, 1941 Japanese forces launched an areal attack on the United States naval and air bases on the Hawaiian Islands, called Pearl Harbor. The Japanese took a major victory, killing 2,897 Americans and wounding 879 others. The attack left the Pacific devastated.
Hiroshima was bombed on August 6, 1945 taking the lives of over 70,000 Japanese citizens almost immediately. And over a the next few months the number exceeded over 140,000. Taking almost 50 times more lives than that of the Pearl Harbor bombing. The city of Hiroshima was reduced to nothing but ruble, burning ember, and molten rock from the first atomic bombing in history. Innocent families were killed in the act, women, children, and elderly citizens. And throughout many later generations, families suffered with many sicknesses (cancer, babies born with deadly diseases) due to the radiation of the atomic bomb.
